Cancer in Dogs

Cancer is in all of our lives. I have Prostate Cancer and will be treated very soon.

In dogs, it is the leading disease killer! In dogs, there are many options... surgery, radiation & chemo. New treatments include cryosurgery which is the freezing & killing of cancer cells. On the flip side is hyperthermy which is heating tissues and thus killing the cells.
A new treatment is photodynamic therapy . You dog is injected w/ a light sensitive agent which seeks out the cancer cells. A laser is the directed on the area.

You may want to contact a large Veterinary Hospital. Many Veterinary Schools have teaching facilities. Perhaps they're seeking dogs for research.

As with cancer in people, much work is being done to deals w/ cancer and dogs. Secondhand smoke also affects dogs as it does people. Herbicides and chemicals are also linked to cancer in dogs.
