Dog hoarder in Tenn.

Officials in Union County, Tenn., removed 136 dogs from inside a 1,000-square-foot home in Maynardville and rescued them from abject squalor and persons described by officials as “hoarders.” The dogs were alive but in dire need of veterinary assistance and other basic care. Those responsible are being charged with multiple animal cruelty counts. The Union County Humane Society (UCHS) as well as other humane organizations is providing veterinary treatment and housing for the Union County 136 as foster homes are being found. PetSafe, a brand of pet behavioral, containment and lifestyle products owned by Radio Systems Corp. in Knoxville, Tenn., donate $8,000 to the UCHS to help defray the cost of veterinary services needed for the huge influx of dogs. “[PetSafe’s] support, earmarked for veterinary care, is essential for the well being of these dogs, who are in need of care and vaccinations before we can offer them to potential families
